To make sure no one is affected by alcohol or drugs while working or living at the mine. Impairment kills people in heavy equipment, blasting and plant work.

| Alcohol | Not allowed on site, in the camp or in company transport at any time. Zero tolerance at work. |
| Illegal drugs | Possession, use or being affected is prohibited at all times. |
| Prescription and over-the-counter medicine | Tell the Clinic if your medicine could affect you. The Clinic will advise on fitness for work. |
| Cannabis | Not permitted, including where it is legal off site. |
| Fit for work | You must arrive fit to work. Being affected is a breach even if you have not used on site. |

Breath alcohol of 0.02 g/100 mL or above is a non-negative result. The person stops work and is transported to the Clinic; they do not drive or operate equipment.
If you are struggling with alcohol or drugs, ask for help before a test. Self-referral to the EAP is confidential and will not lead to discipline if made before a test or incident.
