Certificate expiry

Certificates can stay valid forever or expire after a set time, which suits professional certifications and memberships that need renewing.

Set how long certificates stay valid

For an event: in the event's settings, set Certificates expire to Never or After a number of months or years. See Create an event.
For one certificate: set Expires on when you generate a single certificate.

The expiry is counted from the certificate's issue date. Changing an event's setting only affects certificates issued afterwards.

Designs with a Valid until line print the expiry date. Certificates that never expire leave that line out.
The certificate page, the recipient portal and the verification page show Valid until, Expired on or no expiry.
On the day a certificate expires, its status changes to Expired everywhere, including the verification page.

Expired certificates are never deleted: the record and its PDF stay available.
