Setup > System > User defined fields adds the company's own fields to contracts, invoices, Importers, Products and the other entities: name, type (text, number, date, list of options, checkbox) and whether it is required. They appear in a block of their own on the record, save like any other field, are kept in the history and can be used in widgets and reports.
Setup > System > Translations holds the interface dictionary. Every text has its English original and its translation into the company's language. An administrator can change any text: for example, have Freighters read Carriers in the menu, or have Name on Importers read Code. The change applies on reloading the page. The texts the server answers with (validations, error messages) are translated too.
Setup > System > Modules groups the menu's screens into modules that are assigned to users (user record, Modules section). A user sees only the screens of their modules; administrators see everything.
