Printing

LogisticaHQ prints labels (bin, product, pallet, carton, carrier labels) and documents (packing slips, bills of lading, commercial invoices) on the printers in your warehouse. Because LogisticaHQ runs in the cloud and your printers sit on your own network, printing always goes through a small program at your site, the print agent.

How a label gets printed

  1. Someone prints: a receiver prints a pallet label on the handheld, a packer finishes a carton, an office user prints bin labels.
  2. LogisticaHQ chooses the printer, from the person's own printers and the company's printers, by the kind of label. See Printers.
  3. It chooses the template: the default design for that kind of label, or a customer's compliance design. See Templates and label design.
  4. It puts the job in the print queue, addressed to the print agent that has that printer. See Print queue.
  5. The print agent picks the job up within seconds, prints it, and reports back whether it worked. See Print agent.

Setting up printing

StepWhere
1. Install each printer in Windows on a computer that is always on, and give it a clear name, such as Dock 3 labels.Windows, on that computer
2. Install the print agent on that computer, with your LogisticaHQ partner. Its printers then appear in LogisticaHQ.Print agent
3. Set each label printer's DPI, and give each printer the roles it prints.Printers
4. Give people who need their own printer that printer on their profile.Users
5. Check that each label type prints with the template and size you want.Templates and label design
6. Print a test label of each kind and check it in the print queue.Print queue

Documents printed on paper

Packing slips, bills of lading and commercial invoices are produced as PDF files and printed on an office printer with the matching role (Packslip Pdf, Bill Of Lading Pdf, Commercial Invoice Pdf).

When something does not print

Start in the Print queue: it shows whether the job was created, whether an agent picked it up, and what the agent reported. Its troubleshooting table walks through each case.
