Before any stock can be received, LogisticaHQ needs a map of your warehouse. The map has four levels, each set up under Setup > Warehouse:
| Level | What it is | Example |
| Warehouse | A site. | 1001 - Main warehouse |
| Zone | An area whose bins share the same rules: loose stock or pallets, which products and clients, whether stock there can be picked. | A - pick shelving, R - pallet racking, Q - quarantine |
| Bin | One storage location, with a barcode label. | A-01-003, R02-B |
| Dock door | A loading door, with a barcode label. | Door 3 |
Setting up a warehouse, step by step
- Plan the zones with your LogisticaHQ partner: which areas hold loose stock and which hold pallets, where picking happens, where damaged or recalled stock goes, and whether any area is reserved for a client or a product category.
- Create the warehouse. See Warehouses.
- Create its zones and set each zone's rules. See Zones.
- Generate each zone's bins from a mask, and set their picking sequence. See Bins.
- Print and apply the bin labels.
- Create the dock doors and print their labels. See Dock doors.
- Load the opening stock, by receiving it or with a cycle count of each bin.
Good practice
- Name bins so they sort in walking order: A-01-001, not A-1-1. Use the zeros in the mask.
- Keep one expiry date per bin in zones with expiring stock, so the oldest stock is always picked first.
- Keep a quarantine zone for damaged, returned or recalled stock: stock there is never picked by mistake.
- Test the setup with a few receipts, moves and picks before loading all your stock.
