Customer Groups

Customer groups let you classify your Customers into segments — Wholesale, Retail, Government, and so on — and then use those segments to drive automatic behavior across pricing, commissions, and purchasing rules. Assign a customer to a group once, and every relevant rule that targets that group applies to them automatically.

Where to find it

Go to Master Data > Sales > Customer Groups.

Customer Groups list page in CifraHQ.

Customer Groups list, segments used for pricing and reporting.

How to create a Customer Group

  1. Click New.
  2. Enter a Name (e.g., Wholesale, Retail, Government).
  3. Optionally add a Description.
  4. If this group should only be allowed to purchase from specific Product Groups, enable Limited Product Groups and select the permitted Product Groups in the grid that appears.
  5. Save.

Assigning Customers to a group

Open a customer record and select the Customer Group from the dropdown in the customer details. The assignment takes effect immediately for all future transactions.

Limited Product Groups

When Limited Product Groups is enabled on a group, Customers in that group can only be invoiced for Products that belong to the permitted Product Groups. Attempting to add an unauthorized product to their invoice will be blocked. This is particularly useful for government or institutional Customers whose procurement contracts restrict them to approved Product Categories.

Tips

  • Use customer groups in Price Rules to apply group-wide pricing — for example, Wholesale Customers automatically receive 15% off list price on all orders, without setting individual discounts per customer.
  • Filter your customer list by group to quickly segment for reporting, outreach, or review.
  • Each customer belongs to one group at a time. If a customer's relationship changes (e.g., a retailer becomes a wholesale account), simply update their group and the new rules apply from the next transaction.
