Payroll Payments
Closing a Payroll period posts the Payroll expense — but the salaries are not yet paid. A Payroll payment records the actual cash disbursement against a closed period and posts the Accounting entry for it, so your books show both sides: the obligation and the payment.
Where to find it
- Payroll > Payments — the list of all payments, with their period, bank account, amount, and posting state.
- Payroll > Periods > (open a closed period) — the Pay button, the fastest way to record a payment.
Paying a period
- Open a closed Payroll period and click Pay.
- In the dialog, choose:
| Field |
Description |
| Bank account |
The financial institution the salaries were paid from |
| Posting date |
The Accounting date of the disbursement |
- The amount is the period's total net pay — it is calculated by the server and cannot be edited.
- Click Pay. CifraHQ creates the payment and posts the journal entry in one step:
Debit Wages Payable (clears the liability from the period close)
Credit Bank account (the cash out)
The period's Accounting section now links both Journal Entries — the close entry and the payment entry — and the Periods list shows a checkmark in the Paid column linking to the payment.
Rules
- Only closed periods can be paid, and each period can be paid once.
- A period with a posted payment cannot be reopened. Reverse or delete the payment first.
- Payments are visible and auditable on Payroll > Payments; each payment links its period and journal entry.
Tips
- Pay from the period screen. The Pay button pre-selects the period and computes the amount — there is nothing to type but the bank account and date.
- The décimo posts its own entry. Partida payments are posted from the Décimo screen, not here.
