Departments are organizational groupings used to classify Employees for Payroll reporting, work letters, and HR analytics. Every employee can be assigned to a department, making it easy to filter Payroll runs, accumulators, and Reports by business unit.
Go to Payroll > Departments.

Departments are assigned on the employee record:
The department assignment takes effect immediately for new Payroll runs. Historical run data retains the department value at the time of calculation.
Select one or more departments and click Delete. A department that is currently assigned to one or more Employees cannot be deleted - reassign those Employees first.
