This checklist takes a new LogisticaHQ warehouse from an empty system to its first shipped order. Work through it in order: each step builds on the ones before it. For example, products need their client, receiving needs bins, and shipping needs printers and carriers. Each step links to the page that explains it in full.
Time needed: a single warehouse with a few hundred products is typically ready in one to two days. Your LogisticaHQ partner can load products, vendors and customers in bulk.
1. Company and system
- Company details. Enter your company's name, address, phone, logo and default language. They print on packing slips, labels and invoices, so fill in every field. See Tenant.
- Key settings. Review the configuration groups that change how your warehouse runs: receiving, allocation, waving, shipping and products. The defaults suit most warehouses. Change only what you need. See Configuration.
- Translations. If your team works in a language other than English, check the screens in that language and fill any missing words. See Translations.
2. People
- Permission profiles. Decide which modules and screens each role may use, for example office manager, receiver, picker or client. See Modules and permission profiles.
- Users. Create a user for every person, assign their profile, warehouse, language and printers. Floor users sign in on the handheld with the same user. See Users.
- Reason codes. Set up the reasons people choose when they adjust stock or process a return. See Reason codes.
3. Printing
- Print agent. Install the print agent on a computer at each site so LogisticaHQ can reach your printers. See Print agent.
- Printers. Check that your printers appear, set the default printer and decide which printer prints which label for each user. See Printers.
- Label templates. Review the product, bin, license plate, tote and shipping label designs, and adjust them to your label sizes. See Templates and label design.
4. The building
- Warehouses. Create each warehouse with its address. See Warehouses.
- Zones. Divide each warehouse into zones (pick face, bulk, staging, returns, quarantine) and set how each zone behaves. See Zones.
- Bins. Generate the bin locations in each zone and print their labels. See Bins.
- Dock doors. Create your receiving and shipping doors. See Dock doors.
5. Clients and products
- Clients. Create the companies that own the stock. A single-company warehouse still needs one client. See Clients.
- 3PL billing (3PL warehouses only). Create each client's billing profile and rates. See Billing overview.
- Products. Create every product with its tracking attributes, dimensions and pack sizes. See Products and Product categories.
6. Inbound and outbound partners
- Vendors. Create the suppliers you receive from. See Vendors.
- Customers. Create the customers you ship to, with their ship-to addresses and any expiry or cartonization rules. See Customers.
- Carriers and shipping. Set up carriers, carton sizes, cartonization profiles and shipping rules. See Carriers, Carton sizes, Cartonization profiles and Shipping rules.
7. Devices
- Handhelds. Install the LogisticaHQ Handheld app on each Android device and sign in. See Handheld and Active handhelds.
8. A test run before go-live
- Create a purchase order for a few products and receive it on a handheld. See Purchase orders and PO receiving.
- Create a pick ticket for one customer, allocate and wave it, pick it on the handheld and ship it. See Pick tickets, Allocation and Pick and pack.
- Check that every label and document printed on the right printer with complete data. Then count a few bins and check the inventory report agrees.
When the test run is clean, remove the test orders and stock, and you are ready to go live.
